Application The application technology has a strong impact on the production cost and the resulting effect level. During application the textile chemicals are laid on the fabric. Adequate application will evenly disperse the products, leading to the desired effects. Improperly applied products lead to quality problems and cost disadvantages. Application and products should be seen as one system in order to achieve optimum results.
New technology Application via pad-dry process (foulard) and knife coating are most frequently used in the industry. But many other application methods can also be found in practice. New technology to functionalize textiles is working on a different technology platform. For example can vapour deposition (PVD) apply very thin products layers on the surface. Emerging technologies include also plasma treatment where a reactor serves to oxidize the top surface layers of textiles. Specific advantages of new technology are often opposed to limitations in the application spectra (choice of different effects).
Application Systems In application systems the processing method and the textile chemicals are mutually adapted and support each other. Systems can enable significant cost and performance improvements as well as ecological benefits. But the specific advantages are mostly possible on behalf of reduced production flexibility (limited number of effects). In cooperation with our partners ecoatech is developing new application systems that lead to very cost efficient production but without reducing the spectra of different effects. |
